Why snow tires make sense here

Built for more than the next snowfall.

Winter tires use cold-weather rubber and tread designs to help with traction, braking and steering on wintry roads. Their benefits go beyond getting out of the driveway.

Grip in the cold.

Winter-tire rubber stays flexible in low temperatures, helping the tread work against the road.

Traction in snow and slush.

Specialized tread patterns and biting edges are designed for winter surfaces.

Help when slowing and turning.

The right winter tires can improve braking and cornering grip compared with conventional all-season tires in winter conditions.

Straight answers before you switch

Winter tire questions, answered.

From AWD to storage, here are a few things worth knowing.

Do I need winter tires if I already have all-wheel drive?

AWD does not eliminate the benefits of winter tires. It helps your vehicle get moving, but it does not replace tire grip when you brake or turn. A matched set of four winter tires can improve traction in winter conditions. Keep your speed and following distance appropriate for the road.

Are snow tires and winter tires the same thing?

The terms are commonly used for the same seasonal tire category. These tires are designed for cold weather as well as snow and ice. They are meant to come off when warmer weather returns.

How are winter tires different from all-season or all-weather tires?

Conventional all-season tires balance year-round needs, including light snow. Dedicated winter tires use compounds and tread designs intended for colder, more demanding conditions. Some year-round tires, often called all-weather tires, also carry the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol. That symbol indicates tested severe-snow traction; it does not make every marked tire equivalent on ice or in every condition. We can help you compare the options.

When should I put winter tires on and take them off?

Plan around sustained temperatures and your driving conditions. Around 45°F is a common seasonal-change guideline, not an exact cutoff for every tire. Arrange your winter setup before the weather turns, then switch back as consistently warmer weather returns. Winter tires can wear faster and respond less precisely on warm roads.

Should I buy two winter tires or four?

Choose four. Honda recommends fitting winter tires to all four wheels rather than only the front or rear. Mixing seasonal tire types can leave the two ends of the vehicle with different levels of grip. Follow your vehicle’s tire-size, load and other fitment requirements.

Can I use my current wheels, or should I get a full package?

Both may be options, depending on your vehicle and wheels. Winter tires can be mounted on compatible existing wheels. A separate tire-and-wheel package keeps each set mounted, so seasonal changes involve swapping wheel assemblies rather than repeatedly mounting and removing tires. We’ll check wheel clearance, tire specifications and the tire-pressure monitoring requirements for your exact vehicle.

What does off-season tire storage at Ide Honda cost?

Off-season tire storage is $29.95 plus tax per season. Ask us to coordinate storage with your seasonal tire visit and to explain the tire, wheel and installation options for your vehicle. Please review our storage policy.

Will my winter wheel package need tire-pressure sensors?

It depends on the vehicle. Some Hondas use an indirect tire-pressure monitoring system rather than sensors mounted in each wheel. We’ll check whether your setup requires sensors, calibration or other steps for your year, model and trim.

Why does my tire-pressure light come on when it gets cold?

Tire pressure drops as temperatures fall. Check pressures when the tires are cold and use the specification on your vehicle’s door-frame label or in its owner’s manual. The maximum printed on a tire’s sidewall is not the vehicle’s recommended pressure. If a tire is visibly low, damaged or keeps losing pressure, have it checked.

Can Ide help me choose the right winter tires?

Absolutely. Tell us your vehicle’s year, make, model and trim, along with the driving you do. We’ll find suitable tires and give you options, including complete packages with rims. If you already have a second set, let us know so we can discuss the next seasonal change and storage.
